User Experience Researcher II

Project Overview:
Our client’s Developer Product Group builds platforms for helping developers create extraordinary app
experiences for their end users. One example is Firebase, which has over 300,000 developers using the platform, many of whom love the product.
The UX team’s goal is to provide design & research to the developer-focused teams at Our client, that leads to useful, usable, consistent, scalable products that set industry standards. We aim to empower internal and external app developers to build websites, apps, and services on the same robust infrastructure that powers Our client’s own products. This is an opportunity to do interesting work in an area that traditionally has not had a lot of UX focus, therefore there’s plenty of scope for a lot of impact.

Target users: Who uses our products?
App Developers, Designers, Dev-ops, and Ops/IT Admins
We design for professional app and game developers – small development shops as well as development
agencies and larger, highly-scaled services.
Overall Responsibilities:
User Experience (UX) Researchers work to answer the most challenging questions in design. In this role, you will reveal what our users need from our products by conducting primary research, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users, and working with teams of Designers, Product Managers,
Engineers and others to develop new features. You’ll inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering exciting oral, written and visual presentations about our findings. Most importantly, your job as a researcher is to help the UX team understand what would make a user’s experiences feel more intuitive, accessible, and fun.

Specifically for this research role, you would be the person responsible for executing research and
influencing product improvements for our set of backend-as-a-service tools

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of how users and organizations leverage and develop apps using cloud infrastructure.
Collect and analyze user behavior through server logs, online experiments (A/B testing), benchmark
studies, lab studies, and surveys.
Work with designers, product managers, engineers, and research managers to prioritize research
opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Additional Responsibilities:
With considerable experience, you evaluate all the features contributing to user experience, providing
expertise, collaborating internally and occasionally leading projects. You contribute new processes and
identify product and use requirements.

Required Skills:
4+ years of UX Researcher work experience, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
Experience with benchmark studies, lab studies, surveys and A/B testing method knowledge.
Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and
how to apply them during each product phase.
Good working knowledge of statistics and the principles of experiment design.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in UX Fields (Human Factors; Information Management; Human-Computer Interaction, etc.)
Experience with SPSS or similar, and remote usability testing tools such as UserTesting.com or
UserZoom.
Experience of the app lifecycle / previously built a web or native mobile app
