Vehicle Operator

Job Description Responsible for operating and evaluating a self-driving vehicle in autonomous mode for six to eight hours per day, including collecting data and providing feedback.

Summary of Primary Duties:
• Monitor automated driving software systems.
• Operate a vehicle 6-8 hours a day alone, five days a week; able to sit for long periods of time.
• Capable of responding quickly to changing and potentially high-pressure environments.
• Provide concise, clear, and accurate verbal and written feedback regarding the vehicle’s operations.
• Complete daily reports and document procedures and tests.
• Interact with the members of the public and educate them on self-driving technology.
• Work mostly individually but also in small groups of 2-10 people.

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum of five years of experience driving on public roads. Additional experience is preferred.
• Valid driver license for the state(s) in which the self-driving vehicle operator will be working.
• Meets driver requirements, including driving record & criminal history, under applicable regulations and laws in the state (s) in which the self-driving vehicle operator will be working.
• Comply with zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol or drugs by self-driving vehicle operators during a shift, including randomized drug testing.
• Able to work either early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends, as well as overnight shifts and travel for up to one month at a time.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Able to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
• Able to type at least 40 wpm.
• Proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (Gmail, Hangouts, and Drive, including Sheets and Docs).
• Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred but not required).
• Ability to parallel park with minimal assistance.
• Upon acceptance of work, must be willing to be enrolled in a commercial driving program, including a randomized drug testing program as required by California state law.
