Waste Water Tech


Adecco Staffing is looking for a Waste Water Tech in Chester, VT for one of our manufacturing clients. This is a DIRECT HIRE/PERMANENT position. Below is a detailed job description provided by the client. We are open to non-licensed waste water techs looking to enter the field and obtain a license. 




Primary responsibilities will be to operate the plant’s pretreatment process.  Secondary responsibilities will be to perform basic maintenance activities to support the plant maintenance team where needed.  Perform assigned responsibilities to support the safe and productive manufacture of quality product and to meet the goals of the Company.


Must possess a valid VT Motor Vehicle License and be able to obtain a Vermont Pollution Abatement Operator – Domestic or Industrial Dairy Level 1 certification within 24 months from date of hire.


Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.  No direct supervisory responsibilities. 


Principal Duties &Responsibilities:


Ensure proper operation of the wastewater pretreatment process.  To include daily testing of critical operating parameters, adjusting equipment controls, and collect samples for shipping to third-party lab services.


Ensure processing equipment is prepared and operational before each scheduled run. Efficiently plan, coordinate and execute production changeovers.


Assist in the execution of the preventive maintenance program and work orders to ensure all plant equipment’s state of readiness relative to safety, quality and efficiency.  Maintain appropriate records.


Assist in troubleshooting equipment failures/complications and take necessary actions to rectify.  Follow established procedures in the disassembly, cleaning, sanitation, and reassembly of all equipment and tools. 


Assist in completing general maintenance throughout the facility including common areas and warehouse.  Includes forklifts, compressors, plumbing, electrical, boilers and carpentry.


Collaborate and communicate regularly with operations staff to ensure safety, quality and efficiency are always paramount.   Provide regular updates of projects and/or work orders to appropriate personnel.


Maintain high quality standards.    Report any quality concerns immediately upon discovery and take necessary actions to rectify.


Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices following all sanitation SOPs and process procedures and guidelines.


Adhere to, use and encourage safe work practices, following safety rules and regulations including but not limited to Lock Out/Tag Out and personal protective equipment.  Report any potential safety hazards, near misses or injuries to the Director of Operations.  


Ensure maintenance of a neat/clean/safe work area to prevent injury or product contamination.


Maintain parts/supplies inventory and shop tools and equipment.  Assure shop tools are secured at the end of the shift.


Respond to off-shift emergency situations when needed and perform weekend and holiday plant checks as requested.


Develop programs, practices, and policies to bring facility into and maintain its level of compliance with all aspects of OSHA, building codes and other regulations.


Maintain all required and appropriate documentation for department.  Develop and maintain maintenance SOPs.


Collaborate, communicate and meet with managers and other appropriate personnel to accomplish Company goals.  Prepare for and attend meetings as required.


Adhere to and follow all Company policies and procedures.


Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.


Physical Demand - Employees must be able to:


  • Lift approximately 50 lbs. from a bending, standing, or stooping position safely and comfortably.
  • Bend, lift, climb, twist, reach, lean over, pull, push, stoop and stand on concrete floor on a regular basis and for long periods of time.
  • Perform repetitive motor functions from a standing position for extended periods (three-four hours).
  • Tolerate moderate to loud noise, fluctuating temperatures and wet working environment.



    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and through written documentation.  Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 


    Ability to apply problem solving skills individually or provide reliable input into group decision making.


    Mechanically inclined and able to identify or operate basic hand tools.


    Schematics experience preferred.


    Electrical and welding experience desired, but not required.
