Position Summary

This exciting position will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks proficiently and efficiently. Responsible for permanently joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. May specialize in one of many of processes of welding to join metals together. Layout and construct various product assemblies with minimum supervisor according to blueprints or specifications. Break down assembly drawings and specifications and plan the successive steps of fabrication components.

  • Essential Position Duties:

  • MIG Weld .035, .045 (Solid Wire) 1/16 (dual shield)
  • Operates a cutting touch (Oxy/propylene)
  • Uses a carbon arc gouge
  • Fabricates different weldments within tolerance using blueprints
  • Weld mild carbon, T1 hardened steel
  • Finish weld and make the final cleanup requirements.
  • Grind/sand parts without leaving cosmetic defects.
  • Blueprint reading: ability to measure metric and standard prints.
  • Safely operates Jib cranes, Overhead Bridge cranes and rigging.
  • Work well with others in Welding Teams
  • Train their team members
  • Adheres to all work and safety rules/procedures; follows all safely instructions and always wears appropriate PPE for welding and cutting.
  • Insure work area is clean and orderly and follows GMPs.
  • Perform work in other areas and duties as assigned.
  • Specific knowledge and skills:

  • Basic math skills with decimal and fractions.
  • Detailed oriented and mechanically inclined with the ability to read and understand blueprints., systematics and diagrams.
  • Understands how to use basic tools (Metric tape, fillet weld gages, etc.)
  • Able to follow instructions from supervisors and team leads. Strong follow-up skills.
  • Able to make quick decision and cross train in different areas of welding as needed.
  • Ability to weld for long distances without stops.
  • Safely operate Jib cranes, overhead bridge cranes, forklifts and other material moving equipment.
  • Understand and practices GMPs and Safety procedures.
  • Education & Experience:

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • 3 years MIG welding experience
  • 3 years fabricating experience
  • Ability to pass a hands-on welding test and written blueprint test.
  • Experience with fabrication using blueprints.
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication (small group presentations, correspondence, documentation).
